Nutritionists support the importance of eliminating table sugar whenever possible. In August 2009, the American Heart Association began formally recommending that Women eat no more than 100 calories of added processed sugar per day, or six teaspoons (25 grams), and Men should digest no more than 150 calories or nine teaspoons (37.5 grams) of refined sugar per day.
