{"id":101,"date":"2011-06-20T04:53:40","date_gmt":"2011-06-20T04:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sugaralert.com\/?page_id=101"},"modified":"2011-09-03T06:27:21","modified_gmt":"2011-09-03T13:27:21","slug":"a-mcdondalds-experiment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sugaralert.com\/?page_id=101","title":{"rendered":"A McDonald&#8217;s Experiment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sugaralert.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/mcdonaldsburgerex.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-102 aligncenter\" title=\"mcdonaldsburgerex\" src=\"http:\/\/sugaralert.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/mcdonaldsburgerex.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is something you can try at home.\u00a0Try your experiment and buy a McDonald\u2019s hamburger, leave it out and see how fast or slow it decays.\u00a0Like the one in the photo above, can you tell the difference?\u00a0After 14 years, the McDonald&#8217;s burger on the left looks almost the same as the new one on the right.\u00a0It may be not such a good idea to eat this on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps, the meat patty has an excessive amount of sodium (salt), which is a natural preservative.\u00a0The bun (bread) does not have any mold, perhaps because it is not regular bread.\u00a0According to McDonald&#8217;s website, their hamburger buns consist of:\u00a0&#8220;Enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid, enzymes), water, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, yeast, soybean oil and\/or partially hydrogenated soybean oil, contains 2% or less of the following: salt, calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, wheat gluten, ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, dough conditioners (sodium stearoyl lactylate, datem, ascorbic acid, azodicarbonamide, mono- and diglycerides, ethoxylated monoglycerides, monocalcium phosphate, enzymes, guar gum, calcium peroxide, soy flour), calcium propionate and sodium propionate (preservatives), soy lecithin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There are major incentives to center your diet on real foods as opposed to &#8220;food products,&#8221; the primary one being that real food is essential for optimal health.
