Unreservedly, eating foodstuff items with added sugar is often times very hard to resist. Even though we rarely think about the negative effects on our mind and body processed sugar breeds, as it is glucose that the human body really needs as its key source of energy. Glucose is the proper sugar that when ingested circulates in the blood as blood sugar and supplies almost all the energy for the brain.
Hence, we need glucose to function and going without it too long our mind and body will quickly power down. This is the basic reason why processed sugar is as compelling as much as it is for a hardened drug addict. That sounds harsh, however science research reveals how processed sugar affects the brain in the same way that morphine and other opioids do.
Like an addiction, the more added sugar we eat, the more we want. Appallingly, small and large business enterprises routinely take advantage of this fact for generating revenue and this is why sugary-filled products can be seen everywhere. Our grocery stores carry greater than 80% of its packaged food/beverage products with added processed sugar. Good health is fleeting from eating too much sugar, thereby necessitating more help in reducing the number of individuals and enterprises overly hawking products with high sugar content.
Large amounts of American families have at least one person suffering from renal or insulin resistance related diseases. Yet, at this year’s controversial Oscar awards ceremony showed its host Chris Rock hawking Girl Scout cookies to the many affluent audience members. During this unprecedented selling exhibition, Rock even pointed to the seasoned actor Lou Gossett, Jr. to literally refrain from eating sugary cookies since Gossett is a current diabetic.
Processed sugar in Girl Scout cookies is the second ingredient behind enriched flour, included with corn syrup and artificial flavors. The ingredients of Girl Scout cookies sold in the 1920’s and 1930’s were less complex using just flour, butter, sugar, eggs, milk, real vanilla, salt, and baking powder. That lesser amount of sugar narrowed the shelf life of those cookies; then again American choices of sugary-filled items were also considerably smaller.
An understated sugar hawking can be found where musicians Zedd and Aloe Blacc have teamed up to create a brand-new song for selling M&M’s candy, a reinterpretation of The Candy Man by Sammy Davis Jr. Producing melodious tunes may not seem like hawking, but the purpose for making such a song is done solely to prey on the emotions of others to buy the targeted product.
Such hawkers are not necessarily ruthless or predatory by nature, but when it comes to helping to move products that are harmful to personal health is in no way is a good thing. In view of that, align your foodstuff buying and eating habits with living SugarAlert!
